A
USF show that incorporated twelve moving elements, including two
rotating stages, a self-erecting second floor stage, and a delivery
truck that “explodes” with cast members inside.
FX Control designed 12 moving sets
including an exploding delivery van, two rotating stages, a
self-erecting second floor and high-speed backdrops. All of the
movements and effects operated automatically from a single show
controller and in close proximity to cast and crew. Throughout
the design and program development, cast and guest safety was of
paramount concern. 
Various sensors constantly monitor the position of the cast and status of the various sets These signals along with the cues from the show controller are fed to a local PLC, which permits the initiation of the next set change.
Because of the high-speed operation and constrained spaces, hydraulic actuators were selected to effect many of the set changes.
A hydraulic servo-actuator was employed to “explode” the delivery van with two cast members inside.
